When the new European pedestrian safety standards were announced, many were sad because that meant that a lot of the older models of cars would be no longer seen. The feeling of nostalgia clung to the MINI Cooper-said to resemble an English bulldog.

The first step was to create a sportier version of the MINI. Also, in accordance with the new European pedestrian laws, the contours of all the panels were tweaked to minimalise hindrance. The headlights too are no longer attached to the hood, but they retain their oval old-world charm.

Talking about the engine, it has a 175 horsepower engine-pretty decent. Also, in the new version, a turbocharger replaces the supercharger, increasing the torque power. Needless to say, the performance is way better now.

The best part about it is that a lot of people like the car’s personality and identify with it. Talking a little about the interiors- for the varied TG, a lot of options are available. These range from seat cover colors to upholstery. The front seat passengers get ample leg space and the rear ones are also surprisingly not uncomfortable. This is rather good, considering its size.

So finally, is the MINI the same old? All we can say is that although it has changed with the times, it retains its charm.
