This makes the guys a little wary of it because none of them wants to be called “lady like.†More than 65% of the buyers for this car are women. So though their target audience is being halved when majority of the men shy away from the car, a lot of women are attracted towards it.
They sued a very effective advertising strategy when they associated themselves with Oprah and gave away 254 cars to the in house audience. This was a huge gamble, but Pontiac was up for the $8 million deal. And it worked for them. Sales went up after the amazing publicity that they garnered.
